Leigh Ju-Jitsu Competitors

Over the years, our students and instructors have competed at local, regional, national and world championships.

Sports Ju-Jitsu & Grappling Success

Not all students wish to take to the mat competitively, and we never push anyone into doing so. However, for those students that do want to compete, be it in Sports Ju-Jitsu or Grappling, we provide training and will work with you to improve your skill and strategy to help you achieve your goals.

Our students have entered a variety of competitions over the years. In 2001, our junior students were overwhelmingly successful at a demonstration competition, with many of the kids bringing home medals and trophies for the club.

In 2010, Sensei Alan Francis assisted Sensei Dawn Gardner, from an associate Ju-Jitsu club, in assembling a team to represent Great Britain. Our student and Sensei Alex West was one of 18 selected from the country to represent Team GB and competed at the World Championships in Las Vegas, where he secured medals with the rest of the team. The GB squad brought home a total of 32 medals.

Throughout the 2010’s, our junior and adult students competed at the AMA Nationals in Sport Ju-Jitsu and Grappling, once again bringing home a bundle of medals for their collections.

In 2019, Sensei Dylan Hunter, Cadet Sensei Kyle Ghani-Ord, Stu Ord and Luca Ghani-Ord made their way to the WCJJO World Championships in Florida, where they all podiumed, with Kyle also bringing home gold in his category!

In recent years, members of our club have also started entering BJJ competitions, like Allstar BJJ, Empire Grappling, and King of the North, pitting their newaza skills against others from around the country with great success.
